At its core, InterVarsity is quite simple: God is worthy of praise.
Unequaled. Glorious. Central. These things are true of God, yet at JMU, His praise is often absent in the classrooms, the resident halls and organizations. Our desire, as we hope is yours, is to see the name of Jesus magnified and exalted on our campus, in the lives of our lost friends and ultimately around the globe.
InterVarsity is more than an organization. We don’t want to be another program or function for people to attend. We want to build strong disciples of Christ who full-on engage the world with the life, message and worth of Jesus Christ. Sure we have small group Bible studies, Large Group gatherings, prayer meetings, conferences, mission trips and so on. But these are a means and not an end.
It is our conviction that JMU doesn’t need more Christian meetings, clever ideas, or catchy programs. Our campus needs God. God seen clearly in the lives of His people. God heard clearly in the faithful proclamation of his gospel. God experienced clearly through the power of His Spirit in worship and love.
